Kathrina & Joe
I LOVE shooting weddings. A day you look forward to for so long, its often planned far in advance, you pick your favorite people to be there to celebrate your love, and its a big deal! But I wanted to turn things around a little bit. I wanted to document just another day in the life of a married couple. A day they wake up together, lounge around in jammies, make breakfast, and play with their pup, just like any other day.
Its in days like these that the true intimacy is found between two people. I know “intimate in home sessions” aren’t exactly new, but I wanted to really try my best to capture a regular, routine, simple day in the life of Kathrina and Joe, to really experience their dynamic, their routine. I wish there was a way to me to truly be unnoticed, but I did my best to let the morning flow as it would normally. Wake up. Brush teeth. Lounge. Make breakfast. Eat breakfast. Play with the pup.
I know its impossible to document a morning like this in a purely photojournalistic way. I’m inserted into their morning and I become a part of it. But I’m just so grateful I was able to document even a tiny sliver of it, and to be so welcome into it by these two wonderful people.
